Lighting the twin star lyrics

A Promise

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

So we finally spoke it

Confessions of the love we share

Couldn’t have been worse timing

But it snuck up on us from nowhere

You see this situation

It has gone and run away from me

Wish I’d realized sooner

Could have freed myself so easily

But as we wrap our lives around another

I’m asking you

Save a little love for this shipwrecked heartbeat

Save a little bit of your laughter too

I stand before you to make this promise

Someday I will be with you

Come and kiss me darling

Let me taste the heaven in your lips

Lock your eyes with mine now

As I place my hands upon your hips

As the fate that brought both of us together

Tries to keep us apart

Save a little love for this helpless sinner

Save a little bit of your passion too

I stand before you to make this promise

Someday I will be with you

Someday I will be with you

I love everything about you, baby

We are perfect together

Except we’re not together

Save a little love for this shipwrecked heartbeat

Save a little bit of your laughter too

I stand before you to make this promise

Someday I will be with you

Save a little love for your man of magic

Save a little bit of your passion too

I stand before you to make this promise

Someday I will be with you

Someday I will be with you

I promise

Bat Shit Crazy

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

This is a tale

Of a girl whose legs rose right up to the sky

She sucked me in

As we went from strangers to lovers in just one night

I did not see through

The deep, deep lies

From her sweet, sweet eyes

Fooled me into thinking that all was well

This beautiful lady

Was bat shit crazy

Made my life a living hell

No warning signs

She could go from erotic to erratic in a blink of an eye

Could run away

But she cast a spell on me that turned me blind

I could not see past

The deep, deep lies

From her sweet, sweet eyes

Fooled me into thinking that all was well

This beautiful lady

Was bat shit crazy

Made my life a living hell

In her web

Logic melts away

Her teeth dig in

As she feeds upon her prey

The deep, deep lies

From her sweet, sweet eyes

Her sanity was a masquerade

She had a shiny cover

But I discovered

That her pages were torn and frayed

The deep, deep lies

From her sweet, sweet eyes

Fooled me into thinking that all was well

This beautiful lady

Was bat shit crazy

Made my life a living hell

Hey Mama

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

Hey mama, what you wanna do

Been dreamin’ about you all night long

And hopin’ it comes true

Hey mama, can’t wait to see your smile

You lift me up, ignite my sun

Make me feel alive

You float into the club while I sing my songs

Give meaning to my rhyme

Like every single time

In your designer hat and ripped up faded jeans

Oh lady, you drive me crazy

Oh, my, my, my, now

Hey mama, what you wanna do

Been dreamin’ about you all night long

And hopin’ it comes true

Hey mama, now that I see your smile

You lift me up, ignite my sun

Make me feel alive

Maybe tonight I can finally get the nerve

To find a way to talk to you

Turn this fantasy into reality

We could be so happy

Oh, my, my, my, now

Hey mama, what you wanna do

Been dreamin’ about you all night long

And hopin’ it comes true

Hey mama, when I see your smile

You lift me up, ignite my sun

Make me feel alive

Stuttering, fluttering the words come fumbling out

Excuse me, um, ah, your eyes are, um, ah

I think you really smell, …no!

Wait a minute, Wait a minute!

What I’m trying to say is

I am in love with you

Oh, my, my, my, yeah

Hey mama, what you wanna do

Been dreamin’ about you all night long

And it’s finally coming true

Hey mama, just in the nick of time

You rain your love on this man

Make me come alive

I Live for You

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

When I first laid eyes on you

And heard that first breath echo in the room

I knew the road I’d traveled on

Had let me to this moment

A new life had just begun

For you and for me

We’ll fulfill this destiny

When I think of you, I have to sing

As the joy bursts from within

Hear me now

I am in love with you

Feel these words

My life I live for you

Won’t you take me by the hand?

And let me guide you through the crazy maze ahead

I’ll teach you everything I know

Steer you from the danger to the happiness of home

Everyday I watch you grow

Every step just makes me glow

There can’t be a father more proud

I just want to scream it out loud

Hear me now

I am in love with you

Feel these words

My life I live for you

My twins, I live for you

Breathe

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

In the darkened room

The only light I see

Is the torch in your eyes

Beckoning to me

The time is finally here

The night begins to fade

We find ourselves alone

As the worlds wash away

And I draw you near

So breathe out this love

That you have inside of you

I’ll breathe in the pure harmony

That fills our lungs and makes us one

To the rhythm of our hearts

We begin to sway in time

We rise above our bodies

As our souls intertwine

It’s from another place

It cannot be explained

It blooms from within

And will not be contained

As you draw me near

I’ll breathe out this love

That I have inside of me

So breathe in the pure melody

That fills our lungs

And gives us life

And makes us one

I can see myself swim inside

The pools of your beautiful green eyes

I’m hypnotized, I’m mesmerized

You are a part of me

And I’m a part of you

As I hold you near

Breathe out this love

That you have inside of you

I’ll breathe in the pure poetry

That fills our hearts

I’ll breathe out this love

That I have inside of me

So breathe in the pure harmony

That fills our lungs and gives us life

It makes us one

It makes us right

This love, our love

It lights our star

This love, our love

It’s who we are

Paint it Black

written by Jagger, Richards

I see a red door
And I want it painted black
No colors anymore
I want them to turn black

I see the girls walk by
Dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head
Until my darkness goes

I see a line of cars
And they're all painted black
With flowers and my love
Both never to come back

I've seen people turn their heads
And quickly look away
Like a newborn baby
It just happens everyday

I look inside myself
And see my heart is black
I see my red door
I must have it painted black

Maybe then, I'll fade away
And not have to face the facts
It's not easy facing up
When your whole world is black

No more will my green sea
Go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing
Happening to you

If I look hard enough
Into the setting sun
My love will laugh with me
Before the morning comes

I see a red door
And I want it painted black
No colors anymore
I want them to turn black

I see the girls walk by
Dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head
Until my darkness goes

I wanna see it painted
Painted black
Black as night
Black as coal
I wanna see the sun
Blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted
Painted black, yeah

No Other Woman

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

The first time I saw you

I had to rub my eyes

There was something about you

That I recognized

But I was sure, I was sure

We had never met before

But as you stood there before me

You knocked me to the floor

I tried my best

To stay away

But fate had other plans

From that very first day

And now I see, now I see

We were meant to be

And I don’t need no other woman

Since you brought me to my knees

There’s a fire that burns in me

For you evermore

It’s like we were lovers

Before we were born

I dream about you, baby

Almost every night

Even when you’re not with me

You’re by my side

And I know, I know

Everything feels right

And I don’t need no other woman

Since you came into my life

I love the way you walk

I love the way you talk

I love the way you grab my bottle

And pop my cork

And I know, I know

You keep me satisfied

And I don’t need no other woman

Since you came into my life

And I don’t need no other woman

Since my soul found his wife

I Must Have You

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

It’s 3:00 in the morning

When the phone wakes me from my sleep

I know the sound of that ring, the urgency

I hear the wanting in your sultry voice

As you apologize

“Sorry dear, but there’s something I need tonight”

Then you whisper softly

“Oh now, I must have you

I can’t wait, need to taste of your passion

Oh now, I must have you once again”

Now she stands before me

With flowing hair, the color of sunshine

She beckons me with her burning emerald eyes

She leads me to her room

Where candlelight bathes us in its glow

She makes it so hard

To say no

When she whispers softly

“Oh now, I must have you

I can’t wait, need to taste of your passion

Oh now, I must have you once again

And again, and again”

Morning finds us locked in our embrace

Savoring the sight

So glad you made me come

Here last night

You innocently smile

As if that could be done

Then you whisper softly

“Oh now, I must have you

I can’t wait, need to taste of your passion

Oh now, I must have you

Feels so good to be bad when I’m with you

Oh now, I must have you

I can’t wait, need to taste all your passion

Oh now, I must have you once again

This Freedom

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

Look at Johnnie in his suit and tie,

Behind his picket fence, eatin’ apple pie

He’s swimming in regrets of dreams he never dared to try

He looks at me with envy and the hair pokin’ my eyes

But the grass isn’t always greener on this side of paradise

He feels stuck in a grind

But sometimes I wouldn’t mind

I can’t escape this freedom, this freedom, my freedom

I’m wearing the chains of freedom, this freedom, my freedom

I’m just a passenger of my inner drive

A victim of an obsessive passion to always feel alive

So when did love become such a dirty word?

When did security start to make my stomach turn?

Independence clouds my eyes

While the years pass me by

I can’t escape this freedom, this freedom, my freedom

I’m wearing the chains of freedom, this freedom, my freedom

Taste my wounds, watch me bleed

I squeeze so tightly as the rose cuts deep

Baby, wrap your arms around me

Lock me in your sight

Let me feel as if I’m a part of something

Even if it’s only for the night

But don’t hold my heart, or hold your breath

My hands reach out for heaven

But my feet are stuck in hell

This freedom, this freedom, my freedom

I’m wearing the chains of freedom, this freedom, my freedom

Taste my wounds, watch me bleed

I squeeze so tightly as the rose cuts deep

Every Heartbeat

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

It’s been two years since you left him

Time goes by, but you can’t move on

So tired of counting all those tries at love

You play the part of being happy

But I see tears behind your smile

I wish my heart could help yours to beat again

But every heartbeat that I offer

Plants a seed, but never blossoms

Still I’m hoping someday I’ll break through

So I wait right here for you

I catch you staring from the shadows

As I have so many times

But you softly laugh, then turn your head away

And every heartbeat that I offer

Plants a seed, but never blossoms

Still I’m hoping someday I’ll break through

So I wait right here for you

I’ve lived the essence of your story

I know just what you’re going through

So I’ll keep searching for a way to find the love

That has been stolen from you

You’ve gained such pride in independence

I see how much that means to you

But we both know, that’s such a lonely word

And every heartbeat that I offer

Plants a seed that may someday blossom

So I wait here, hoping I’ll break through

Cause my heart, it beats for you

My heart, it beats for you

My heart, it beats for you

Unity (In this together)

lyrics by E. Glaubitz

I know you’re scared

You’ve got a right to be

We’re living this modern life

In captivity

We’re under attack

Forward and back

All around the globe

Tap into your mind

Throughout human kind

There’s something we all must know

We are one

And we’ll always be

We’re in this together

The whole world together

We yearn to be free

So as one

Sing this melody

We’re in this together

The whole world together

Through this tragedy

Let’s find some unity

I can’t escape the irony

The year is 2020

But the future

Is so hard to see

As we swallow the knife

Press pause on our life

We have time to reflect inside

Been moving too fast

To look at the past

Discover what we left behind

Repeat chorus

Oh yeah I may be crazy

To think we can find something good

Let’s find some unity

I know this is gonna be hard

This crisis has left us scarred

But let’s find some unity

We can point our fingers

Make our demands

But where does that bring us in the end

Can we find us some unity?

We’re in this together

The whole world together

Let’s find us some unity

If we look in our hearts

And we search deep inside

We’ll find us some love

And finally come together

Wake up to some unity

We are one

And we’ll always be

We’re in this together

So let’s find some unity

THE STORY BEHIND THE SONGS

A Promise: I wrote this one right after we finished Somewhere Between Tranquility and Turmoil. I was transitioning from the single life to the family life. A promise is about a couple who are ending their relationship because they have committed to others. In doing so they realize their love for each other.

Bat shit crazy is about one of the wackiest women I’ve ever dated. I was fun for a while, but crazy gets old quick.

Hey Mama came to me in a dream. It is a tongue in check lyric about a guy who is in love with a girl he sees all the time, but is too nervous to talk to. This is a throw back to the songs I used to write when I was first starting out.

I Live for You is about my twins. This one chokes me up every time I hear it.

Breathe is my favorite lyric on the album. It is about very passionate, tantric love.

Paint it black has been a closer for our live shows for a couple of years. It was about time we recorded it.

No Other Woman. I’ve always loved the blues, but have recorded only a handful of blues songs. Last year I discovered (finally) the brilliance of Peter Green (of early Fleetwood Mac fame). It re-ignited my passion for the blues and out popped this song.

The following three songs are from the earliest days of the band. Though I always liked these songs, I wasn’t crazy how the recordings came out. For this album they have been reworked and remixed. Now I like them!

I Must Have You is one of the first recordings we ever made (back when we were The Erich Glaubitz Band). It is about a late night rendezvous with the girl I was seeing at the time … and her favorite saying.

This Freedom was a staple of our earliest shows. I went through a phase in my life when I would always have several girlfriends at the same time. Maybe I did it for the fun or maybe to shield myself from getting hurt. It was all very superficial and I came to the realization that though I seemed to have a lot, none of it was real. This song is about that inner struggle. Though it didn’t happen until many years later, this is when I starting thinking about starting a family.

Every Heartbeat: Though this lyric is not about anyone in particular it could be about so many that I’ve met in my life. It is a story of a woman who has been deeply hurt by a past lover and is not ready to love again… and the man who is patiently waiting for her.

Unity (In This Together) was written and recorded in April 2020 during the height of the Covid 19 pandemic. I was hopeful that this worldwide shared devastation would bring us all together. I guess I was wrong. Still love the song, though
